Bridging The Gap
THE OBJECTIVE
To provide a crane solution that enabled maintenance of an aging bridge over the Winnipeg River in Manitoba—in a way that ensured safety, reliable power, and comfort for public traveling in adjacent lanes by limiting hoist travel.
THE CHALLENGE
To provide a crane solution that enabled maintenance of an aging bridge over the Winnipeg River in Manitoba—in a way that ensured safety, reliable power, and comfort for public traveling in adjacent lanes by limiting hoist travel.
CRS SOLUTION
CRS manufactured and supplied two 25T mobile gantry cranes with 42’ spans, which ran along rails on the sides of the bridge, allowing the company to work on one side of the bridge while the other side remained open to traffic. Cranes were designed with on board operator stations, and ran on generator power with moveable trolley stops to prevent accidental travel of loads into active traffic.
CRS ABOVE THE REST
Here’s how we raised the bar in Manitoba.
- Fully customized solution to the contractor’s requirements
- A high level of project coordination with third party project engineers and end users
- Accommodation of safety considerations unique to the project
Customer Feedback
We were very happy with CRS. Their crane solution allowed us to complete the project without having to cut off access entirely, so traffic could continue to safely flow through construction.
